Allied Commander Michael Felmlee started re-enacting in 1985 at the age of fourteen with Ships Company, Brig Niagara. He spent has spent many years in the 1812 re-enacting community and currently shares the rank of Sargent Major of US forces under Commander Steve Abolt. In 2001 Michael ventured into the world of World War II re-enacting. His interest was fueled by his grandfather’s war time service with the 29th Division. Since then Michael has also joined the G.W.A. and enjoys portraying a private as a member of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. In 2007 Michael assumed the role of 2nd Lt of the 83rd Division historical re-enacting group. He has done extensive research on World War II era D&C and tactics. He holds annual joint training events where these disciplines are emphasized. This knowledge and training has led to the 83rd and their associates being asked to function as a specialized reconnaissance platoon at several large events. Michael Felmlee is also an honorary member of the 83rd Veterans Association and he prides himself on the strong bond between the 83rd Division veterans and the 83rd Division re-enactors. The 83rd re-enacted has even served as an honor guard at 83rd Division veterans reunions. Many of the impressions of members of the 83rd re-enacted have been directly influenced by veterans of the 83rd Division. In 2009 Michael and several other re-enacting unit C.O.’s came together to form Third Platoon. Third Platoon is a cohesive group of like-minded individuals who join together to function as one entity at events. Michael is the field commander for Third Platoon. |

MEET THE COMMANDERSMaxwell Roth:
Axis Commander Maxwell Roth began reenacting in 2005. He started as a Schutze with the 11 Waffen SS Division, 11 Kompanie, 23 Regiment “Norge”. After several years under the tutelage of Barry Anderson, he became the Gruppenfuhrer of Norge’s Erste Gruppe. After a 2 year hiatus to work in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he assumed command of Norge, and transitioned it into Kampfgruppe Andersen. His interest in WWII history was fueled by his Great-Uncles service as a Glider-Borne infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division in WWII. Maxwell has done much research on German Tactical Doctrine and Veterans accounts of wartime experiences, as well as technical research into German wartime manufacturing. In conjunction with Michael Felmlees 83rd Infantry unit, he conducts joint training exercises to put this knowledge to work. He is currently training the members of Kampfgruppe Andersen as a Heavy Weapons Platoon. |
